Could you help relieve food-poverty in North Cambridge?

By 22nd November 2019 No Comments

Do you want to help – but not sure how?

We can help!

Red Hen are part of the national FareShare scheme – Tesco in Milton give us excess food donations which we then distribute to families in need in North Cambridge.

Since we started our involvement we have delivered the equivalent of 7,196 meals – stopping over 3,000 kg of food going to waste.

We are looking for regular, committed volunteers to help us on a Friday morning for about 2 hours by

  • collecting the donations from Tesco at 8am, then
  • helping our family workers sort the donations and if needed supplement them with other items kindly donated to us (eg toilet roll, washing powder, shampoo), and
  • delivering to the primary schools we work with plus assist a family worker delivering direct to families

In addition, we have the opportunity to collect an additional donation on a Monday morning if we were able to get regular volunteers to help us.

If you think you might be able to help – please drop a line to sarah.crick@redhenproject.org
